Thai P&I Services International Ltd. was formally incorporated on February 22, 2000. Prior to its conception, It was a division of Thoresen Thai Agencies Public Company Ltd., the holding company of Thoresen Group of Companies in Thailand - listed with the Stock Exchange of Thailand since 1995.

Thoresen Group itself emanated from Thoresen Shipping Services, established in Hong Kong in 1904 to provide services for Norwegian and other European businesses trading between the coast of China Sea up to Thailand which later necessitated in an establishment of a Thailand branch office in 1937 mainly to specialize as shipping agents and correspondents for P&I Associations and H&M Underwriters. Thoresen Group to date is an industry leader owning and operating dry cargo vessels, brokerages, ship caring, car transport and other related concerns.

Thus, to be able to make itself more pronounced and efficient in the ever-growing needs of the marine insurance, the Group took the decision to create Thai P&I Services International Ltd., a new name in the industry but bestowed with the Thoresen's best business tradition and heritage of the last century.
