Map Ta Phut (industrial port) In September 1992, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) awarded a contract to the Thai Prosperity Terminal Company to operate the Mab Ta Phut Industrial Port's multi-purpose terminal. The multi-purpose terminal is one of the port's three terminals. It services shipments of bulk cargo, commodities and ore. The Map Ta Phut Port is located in the Province of Rayong, and is situated on the Gulf of Thailand on stretch of east-west oriented coastline approximately midway between Sattahip to the west and Koh Samet Island to the east. The site is approximately 220 km. by road from Bangkok and effectively faces open sea to the south. Location This seaport is located at the eastern part of the gulf of Thailand and it is sheltered of the gulf of Thailand and it is sheltered by breakwater. Location: Lat 12° 40' N. Long 101° 10' E. Terminal facilities Quay length : 330.0 m depth : 10.5 m Berthing depth : 10.0 m Wharf apron : 70.0 m Shed : size 40 x 102 m (4080 m2) Pilotage Pilot boarding: Lat 12° 36'N Long 101° 10'E Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels over 500 GRT either berthing or unberthing. Dredging Dredging approximately 7 million cubic metres of material to provide: An entrance channel 125 metres wide to depths of up to 10.5 metres below Chart Datum (CD); Various berthing and maneuvering areas to depths ranging from 5 metres to 10 metres below CD; Trenches to depths ranging from 7.0 metres to 15.5 metres below CD in which to construct quay walls. Breakwater Construction of a rubber mound breakwater armoured with natural stone. The length of the breakwater is about 1.5 km and it is built in water depths ranging from 3 metres to 5 metres below CD. There is also a 300 metres long grout built in water depths up to 2 metres below CD.
