Laem
Chabang
Laem Chabang
Port centers on Thailand's view of the future. With the congested
conditions at the Bangkok, plus the port's inability to service
large ocean-going container ships, it was a natural development
in Thailand's economic expansion to plan a port which would be
appropriate to the needs of a high growth economy. This, coupled
with the opening up of the countries of Indochina on Thailand's
eastern frontiers, made the site at Laem Chabang a perfect place
to handle large ocean-going ships while developing the infrastructure
in and around the port to service trade with the countries of
Indochina.
Location
The Laem Chabang Commercial Port, covering an area of about 1,000
hectares, is located in Sri Racha and Bang Lamung Districts, Cholburi
Province, approximately 100 km southeast of Bangkok.
